Deciding where to splurge or save is typically a stress-free process. Most of the time, you already know which high-quality staples to invest in. However, when it comes to your vacation style, it’s a little bit trickier. The struggle we all run into is that the cutest resort pieces are typically the most expensive – but perhaps not extremely wearable for everyday unless you live in Florida like me.
Keep reading to find out where its best to save and splurge when it comes to your vacation outfits.
Where I splurge
A designer bag will instantly make any outfit look more expensive. Plus, they’re designed to last so you’ll be able to carry them beyond a vacation. A larger option like the Louis Vuitton Neverfull is great because it makes for a chic and roomy carry-on; however, I also love smaller bags because they elevate the most basic looks.
I never leave the hotel without my sunglasses when I’m in vacation mode. Since I wear them so much, it makes sense to splurge on a quality pair that frames my face well and won’t break in my luggage.
Since I live in the sunshine state I like to purchase inexpensive and trendier frames that won’t get damaged in the beach or pool
I don’t mind spending a little more money on a bathing suit, especially if I know I’ll re-wear it. The benefit of splurging on swimwear is that the fit and coverage are usually better. And with higher-quality materials, they feel more comfortable on too.
If you live in a tropical climate and have access to a pool year round like myself you may want to mix and match with affordable options so you won’t get tired of the same look since they are an everyday essential.
Where I Save…
I may tote around a designer bag when I’m exploring or heading to dinner, I don’t haul them out to the beach. Instead, I prefer to go with a less expensive option that’s large enough to throw all your vacation essentials in. Woven bags are all the rage this season and there are tons of great straw options to pick from.
I wear high-waisted denim shorts on repeat, so an affordable pair of cut-off denim shorts are perfect for throwing in your bag for everyday outfits. While on vacation, you can easily dress them up with a summery blouse or dress them down with a cozy t-shirt.
If you are heading to the beach or plan on laying by the pool, you will certainly need a pair of sandals you can throw on without any worries. Although I have some designer options, I’ll usually pack a budget-friendly one so I don’t have to worry about ruining them.
Easy One Piece
Summer dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers will always be my go-to outfit because they’re easy to wear and don’t take up a ton of luggage space. I love that you can use them as a beach cover up or wear them to explore a new city. You can also transition them to a night out look with the right accessories
My vacation uniform is a trendy top and denim cutoffs. While I will splurge on one or two dressier tops that can be reused later on, this is one of the categories I often choose to save on. Trends come and go quick and I love experimenting with them. So, it’s best to save on statement tops you know you may not reuse the next season.
